Numerical methods implemented in Matlab: Explicit Euler, Implicit Euler, Symplectic Euler, Midpoint Rule, Trapezoidal Rule, Störmer-Verlet, Runge's method and BDF2. It uses the mathematical pendulum as an example. As you can see, the symplectic method works better than the implicit and the explicit methods.
